What Is This Guide For?
This guide explains how to create, apply, and manage Manual Line Item Adjustments in Campaign Builder.
It’s designed to help you tailor individual campaign products - whether that’s adjusting deliverables, changing costs, or adding custom inclusions - without modifying the base product. You’ll learn when and how to use, how to input values, and best practices to ensure clarity and accuracy in your campaign plans.
Overview
Manual Line Item Adjustments empower Campaign Builder users to apply tailored modifications to individual product items within a campaign. These adjustments offer flexible control over campaign setup by allowing you to change costs, deliverables, or add custom inclusions - without modifying the base product.
It’s ideal for scenarios where campaign needs shift after planning has begun or costs are highly variable. They’re applied directly within the media plan and ensure your campaign reflects real-time requirements without needing to build a new product.
What Can Be Adjusted?
You can use Manual Line Item Adjustments to:
Increase or decrease deliverables
e.g., reduce article views for a shortened campaign timeline.
Increase or decrease product cost
e.g., apply a premium for fast-tracked production.
Add custom inclusions such as:
Travel expenses
Talent fees
Accommodation
Venue attendance
Additional production or photography/videography
These adjustments are helpful when needs arise after product setup (haven’t been pre-set during product creation) or when custom elements are not standardised in the original build.
Implementation Process
Step 1: Accessing Line Item Adjustments
After adding a product to a campaign phase via the “Add Product to My Campaign” button, navigate to the media plan view where line items are listed.
Click on the Summary Tab to view the product/line item breakdown
Each product will have its own line item with a breakdown. Click the orange + icon to the left of the product to open the adjustment panel.
Step 2: Choosing the Adjustment Type
You’ll be prompted to choose between two adjustment types:
Visible Line Item: Appears as a separate line item in the media plan - ideal for transparent client-facing inclusions like talent or travel.
Tip: We recommend this option when adding ancillary costs that increase costs, or when you want to show added value
Integrate into Product Line: Rolls the adjustment into the main product totals. Useful when reducing deliverables or simplifying client-facing documents.
Tip: We recommend this option when reducing deliverables, volumes or decreasing budget, meaning a separate line item is not needed/or shown.
Step 3: Adding Adjustment Details
Fill out the following fields:
Label – “Additional Talent Cost” or “Reduced Article Views”
Adjustment Type – Increase or Decrease
Column Affected – Product Cost, Deliverables
Value – Dollar Value, or quantity of deliverables being adjusted
Notes (Optional) – Rationale or context for internal or external visibility
Once saved, totals will update in the media plan. Visible items will appear as individual entries.
Best Practices
Be specific with naming – Use precise labels for adjustments (e.g., “Travel - Sydney Activation”) to ensure clarity for internal teams and clients.
Document Rationale – Where applicable, include internal notes justifying the adjustment (especially for reductions - eg, shortened campaign duration).
Review before sign off in – In the Final Plan Summary view, review all adjustments to ensure they’re accurate and clearly explained.
Common Use Cases
Scenario | Adjustment Type | Visibility Setting |

Adding talent cost for premium host | Product Cost ↑ | Visible Line Item |
Removing venue attendance due to publisher change | Other ↓ | Integrate into Product Line |
Adding urgent production turnaround fee | Production ↑ | Visible Line Item |
