There are three ways to add Production Items in Avid PubSuite:

  1. While creating a new product

  2. By editing an existing product

  3. Directly to existing content in Campaign Manager

Use the first two options when the Production Item should form part of the product setup. Use Campaign Manager when the additional production work is specific to an existing campaign/content item.

Add Production Items When Creating A New Product

  1. Navigate to the relevant Profile, then click Manage → Products & Bundles.

  2. Scroll down and select Create New Product.

  3. Enter the Product Name.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Complete all the required Primary Content details for your product.

  6. Under Production Items, select + Add Production Item and add each production component required for the content.

  7. Click Add beside each Production Item you want to include, then close the window when finished.

  8. Click Next to continue to Supplementary Content (if applicable).

  9. If the product includes Supplementary Content, add or configure the Supplementary Content placement and complete all the required fields. If the product doesn't have any Supplementary Content, you can skip this step.

On the Production Items section, click + Add Production Item and choose the required item(s). Then click Save Changes.

  10. Click Next.

  11. On the Production Items tab, review all Production Items you've added and use the Blocked By field to control the order in which production work can begin.

“Blocked By” means the selected item must be completed/approved before the next Production or Placement distribution can progress.

In this example, Image Production is blocked by Article Copy. This means that Image Production can only start once the Article Copy has been approved.

  12. Continue through the remaining product setup sections by clicking Next and select Save Changes when complete.

Add Production Items To An Existing Product

  1. On the Products & Bundles section on your Profile, find the product you want to update and select Edit Product.

  2. Open the Primary Content or Supplementary Content tab depending on where the Production Item belongs.

    Select + Add Production Item.

  3. Then select Add beside the Production Item you want to include.

  4. Open the Production Items tab.

Configure the Blocked By selection to determine the order of which the Production Items must be completed.

  5. Then select Save Changes.

Add Production Items Directly To Existing Content In Campaign Manager

  1. Navigate to your Workspace, and on the homepage, click Deliver → Campaign Manager.

  2. Click > on the campaign you want to update.

  3. Click the Content tab → Content Production.

  4. Click Manage Content for the target content item.

  5. Open the Production Items & Placements tab for the content item.

  6. Select Add New, hover over Production Item, then choose the relevant Production Item you want to add.

  7. Enter a Production Item Label.

Then, use the Blocked By drop down to select the Placement Distribution or Production Item that must be completed before this item can progress.

  8. Select the appropriate Advertiser Review option.

  9. If Advertiser Review is required, configure the number of Feedback Rounds allowed.

  10. Select Save Changes.

  11. Once the success message appears, click OK. The new Production Item has been successfully added to the content's production workflow!

Check Your Dependency Logic

When using Blocked By, make sure:

  • The Production Item is connected to the correct placement.

  • The item that happens later is blocked by the item that happens first.

  • Two Production Items do not block each other.

  • The workflow can progress from the first Production Item through to the last.

Example:
✅ Image Production is blocked by Article Copy.
❌ Image Production is blocked by Article Copy and Article Copy is blocked by Image Production.
