In this guide, you'll learn how the Legal Sign-Off feature works in Campaign Builder, from enabling legal sign-off in Workspace Settings to accessing the full audit trail post-approval.

Feature Overview

Campaign Builder supports an optional Legal Sign-Off feature that Media Owners can enable to make Advertiser plan approvals legally binding. When turned on, Advertisers are required to actively accept defined terms and conditions that you have set - including providing their name, role and a digital signature - before a Plan can be approved.

This feature is designed to bring formal sign-off into the campaign workflow. It does not replace independent legal advice, but it does mean that approving a Plan in Campaign Builder constitutes acceptance of the terms presented at that point.

Signed terms are stored in-platform with a full audit trail accessible to both parties.

How It Works

Media Owners enable legal sign-off from Workspace Settings by toggling on the Legal Sign-Off Prompt and entering the legal text Advertisers will see at the point of approval. This can include media plan terms, contractual language, or any relevant disclaimers. Follow this step-by-step guide to activate Legal Sign-Off.

When a Plan is sent for approval, Advertisers follow the usual review flow - they can still read through the plan and leave comments. The difference comes at confirmation, where a Legal Sign-Off Pop-Up appears. This cannot be skipped or exited. Advertisers must provide their role and digital signature before approval is finalised. If their account is set up accurately, their name and the date are pre-filled automatically by the system.

Once submitted, the plan is marked as Approved and returned to the Publisher. The signed terms are locked to the exact version presented at the time of signing - even if the Publisher updates their legal language later, previously signed plans retain their original terms.

How The Audit Trail Works

Both Media Owners and Advertisers can view the full sign-off record, at any time from within the “Comment” section of the relevant Plan.

This includes the exact legal text that was shown, who signed it, the date, and the signer's IP address - giving both parties confidence and a clear compliance record.
